After retiring, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands. I tried to fill my days taking care of the house, my husband, and visiting the children, but it wasn’t enough. What about me? I needed to do something for myself — to finally take care of me. Around the same time, we had my son’s upcoming wedding. So I decided to hire a personal coach.

I did some research and found Coach Julia. I called and set up an interview with her. After sitting down with her for about an hour (I think we both interviewed each other), I decided she was the right coach to transform me from a retired Naples woman into a “Hot Mamma.” And our journey began.

I committed myself to being at the gym with Coach Julia three days a week, rain or shine. No excuses. Full commitment. At the beginning, it felt a little intimidating. I didn’t know the exercises or the proper techniques, and I was surrounded by people lifting heavy weights — some of them looking amazing. Many times I thought to myself, “Will I ever get there?” But at the same time, a wiser voice would say, “Patience, my child, trust the system.” And I did. I was committed, determined, and trusted Coach Julia 150%.

Coach Julia very patiently trained me, explaining the different exercises in a way that never made me feel “dumb.” She guided me, assessed my strengths and weaknesses, and was always careful that I didn’t get hurt. Slowly but surely, we kept going.

Then, shortly after, came the nutrition component. Before training, I was walking 5 miles a day, 4–5 times per week. Because of that, I thought I could eat anything I wanted — including more ice cream and gummy bears than actual protein — and drink Diet Coke instead of water. Coach Julia introduced me to real nutrition. What an eye-opener that was! I always thought I ate pretty healthy… boy, was I wrong.

We started tracking everything in Coach Julia’s app — all the food I was eating and drinking, plus my workouts. With her help, we continued to tweak and adjust my nutrition and training. The system was working. Little by little, I started to see the physical changes, but more importantly, I was feeling healthy.

Coach Julia was always aware of my goals, and we worked hard. I knew she would take me where I wanted to be — that “Hot Mamma” for my son’s wedding — but most importantly, I wanted this for myself. I wanted to take care of myself so I could continue taking care of my family.

Commitment, determination, and trusting the system are the key. I remember one of my sons asking if I ever got out of bed thinking, “I’m too tired to go training,” or making excuses not to go. Never once have I felt that way. I look forward to my training days with Coach Julia because I know it’s another day I’m doing something good for my health.

Never during this past year did I get discouraged. I fully trusted — and still trust — Coach Julia. She has a great way of encouraging and guiding you. When the wedding day finally arrived, I felt incredible. In my humble opinion, I looked amazing, and the sense of crushing my goal was absolutely thrilling. Commitment, determination, and trust paid off. Now that the wedding has come and gone, I’ve set a new goal: to become a “bad ass.”😉

Coach Julia is extremely knowledgeable in what she does and how she guides you. She understands our anatomy. She listens and pushes you to limits you didn’t even know you had. But more importantly, she’s a kind and wonderful human being. She has become a very important part of my life.

Trust the system. Trust yourself. And trust Coach Julia.
